PROBLEM: "MASKNE"

With masks becoming a part of our daily life, many people have been experiencing "MASKNE" or abnormal oiliness which can make it extremely difficult to keep your makeup in place all day long. For some, this may be the first problem they've had with their skin a long time, and many people don't know why it's all of suddenly happening now or ultimately how to make it better.
The reasons why many people are struggling with "maskne" is likely due to masks creating a moisture-rich environment for bacteria to grow on the skin and also friction from masks causing irritation. To top it all off, we all know stress can cause acne, so living during the middle of a pandemic can't be helpful for those who experience breakouts from stress.

SOLUTION(S): 

In order to combat this change in your skin, we suggest the following products and skincare/makeup routine changes. 

 

QUALITY SKINCARE: 

With masks trapping & irritating the skin all day, it's important to use quality skincare products that only have good quality and effective ingredients in them. AKA: no cheap filler/junk in them.  We suggest incorporating the following products into your skincare routine to help combat "maskne": 

1.) Cleanser (A.M. & P.M.) :

Obagi Foaming Gel Cleanser

Obagi Clenzidem MD Daily Care Cleanser 

PRO TIP: use the Obagi Acne Cleansing Wipes  after cleansing to not only thoroughly cleanse your skin, but also to treat problematic skin using salicylic acid (helps to unclog & clean pores) and also hydrating and balancing ingredients such as witch hazel. 

 

2.) Toner (A.M. & P.M.):

3.) Serum (A.M.):

FINAL STEP: MAKEUP! 

As far as makeup goes, we want to keep all face products light & matte! We suggest using the Chantecaille Tinted Moisturizer & set it with the Chantecaille HD Perfecting Powder or HD Perfecting Loose Powder Brush (Perfect to take in your purse so you can touch up & mattify throughout the day if needed!)
